We have a great opportunity for a full time Neighbourhood Coordinator (36 hours) to join our Housing Management team on a fixed term basis for 7 months.

Our Neighbourhood Coordinators are at the heart of what we do at Gentoo, they are responsible for delivering a first-class housing management service, engaging with households and communities to have a positive impact on the lives of our customers.

We are looking for an individual who will take a hands-on approach, helping customers manage their tenancies and improving neighbourhoods for everyone. As a Neighbourhood Coordinator, you will be out and about in your patch, working closely with customers to promote sustainable tenancies, and developing strong relationships with local communities. You will be allocated an area to manage within the City of Sunderland, therefore you will need to be flexible and able to meet the travel requirements of the role, ideally, you will hold a UK driver’s licence with access to a vehicle, with business mileage reimbursed.

This role will require a basic DBS check paid for by Gentoo.

• Visiting customers providing advice, reviewing tenancies, and identifying any problems.
• Undertaking new tenancy sign-ups and accompanied viewings for new homes.
• Delivering appropriate advice, signposting and support to customers to ensure rent payments are made on time.
• Regularly inspecting our estates, raising, reporting, and monitoring to a successful conclusion any Health and Safety concerns.
• Playing a key role in developing strong relationships within local communities, working collaboratively with other departments in Gentoo and external agencies.
• Working in partnership with external agencies to provide solutions for complex housing issues when required.
• Engaging with the wider community and relevant community groups for the benefit of customers and their environment.

What we are looking for:

A commitment and passion for social housing.

Experience in providing a front-line service in a housing or similar background is desirable, however, what is more important is a willingness to learn and a flexible, ‘can do’ attitude.

Demonstrable interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build rapport with customers and external partner agencies.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to work well within a team, as well as being able to work independently, using own initiative.
