We are currently recruiting for General Maintenance Employees (GME) to join our Property Maintenance part of the business in our Empty Homes team.

The role is subject to a basic DBS paid for by Gentoo.

Key responsibilities will include the following, a full job description is available to view at www.gentoogroup.com/careers

- General construction and maintenance labouring duties, including working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Assisting bricklaying or roofing colleagues with repairs
• Carry out driving, collection and delivery of materials / documentation when required.
• Removal of all furniture/rubbish from domestic properties, sites, offices and estates, including dwelling areas, bin stores, outhouses, garages, loft areas and communal areas as required.
• Removal of debris including damaged walls, spillages, floods etc.
• Ensure that depot facilities are kept clean and tidy.
• Assist in moving furniture, equipment and deliveries to/from Group locations including properties.
• Clean interior and exterior of Group properties and communal areas, including floors, walls, paintwork, fixtures and fittings, windows, gardens, greenhouses, etc. Removal and disposal of property and garden waste this may include litter, debris, rubble, sand, paving, soil, weeds and vegetation, loose materials, fall and materials resulting from fly tipping and illegal dumping, in accordance with the agreed cleaning standards.
• To ensure properties are secure.
• Carry out works to the required technical and quality standards.
• Ensuring your company vehicle is kept clean and tidy both internally and externally

What we are looking for:

The post holder should have experience in the Construction/ Repairs sector ideally within social housing.
A full UK driving license is essential for the role.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

• Effective communications skills.

• Knowledge and understanding of relevant Health and Safety Legislation.

• Effective customer care skills.

• Ability to work at heights and confined spaces.

• Ability to work in external environments.

We are looking for applicants who have experience in delivering an excellent service in a customer facing environment. and experience in all areas of labouring including construction, maintenance and grounds maintenance works.
