About the role:

We have an exciting temporary opportunity to join Gentoo’s local neighbourhood team in the role of Community Safety Officer. In this key role you will deliver a quality service which efficiently and effectively manages anti-social behaviour and tenancy breach services from initial receipt of report through to resolution.

You will be responsible for supporting the housing teams in establishing and maintaining a high profile in our local neighbourhood whilst providing a proactive service which includes investigative, enforcement and preventative/support activities. You will take a holistic approach to case management, addressing all issues necessary to resolve situations, engaging with internal stakeholders and external partner agencies to ensure successful outcomes. You will also provide intensive support to new and existing tenants, including those wishing to leave their home due to crime or anti-social behaviour, providing support mechanisms or incentives to encourage them to remain. Other responsibilities include assessing the suitability of potential tenants and tackling incidents of unacceptable behaviour where appropriate including vandalism and damage to Gentoo property.

What we are looking for:

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of dealing with anti-social behaviour and have good working knowledge of housing legal processes and anti-social behaviour tools and powers. They will have outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build rapport with tenants and external partners.

With excellent communication skills, they will work well within a team as well as being able to work independently using their own initiative. They must work well under pressure and employ a flexible approach to dealing with issues.

To deal effectively with emotive and challenging situations, they must demonstrate resilience and have the ability to challenge and confront appropriately. They must be IT literate and able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills to manage cases and workloads effectively.
