About the role:

The role of Building Surveyor will work within Investment Planning, taking responsibility for preparing schemes of investment work or one off projects producing all relevant details and documents to ensure the delivery team function can be successful in the delivery of those programmes of investment and compliance works.

 

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Developing works programmes to address the risk and long term maintenance needs of our stock including commissioning and managing specialist surveys

  • Acting as Project Lead on a range of projects

  • Preparing designs, specifications, drawings and contract documents associated with a range of projects including major housing refurbishment contracts

  • Producing Asbestos strategies

  • Working with the procurements team to prepare tender documentation and analyse tender submissions 

  • Undertaking and managing diagnostic surveys of property defects to identify solutions, define and quantify the extent of the issue identified and develop specifications for remedial works

  • Supporting the development of a comprehensive detailed specification  that will ensure the effective delivery of works

What we are looking for:

  • Have experience in developing and implementing large scale housing investment and compliance programmes

  • Have experience of leading on preparing design, specification and contract documents

  • Be experienced in managing and controlling the quality assurance and control of on-going and completed works

  • A building surveying degree or equivalent demonstrable experience

  • Hold a recognised qualification, MRICS (or equivalent)

  • Have demonstrable knowledge of building construction, building standards, compliance obligations, planning regulations, regulatory standards and leasehold legislation

  • Have significant knowledge of current CDM regulations

  • Have the ability to manage/oversee our externally appointed Principal Designer

  • Have the knowledge and ability to carry out the role of Principal Designer in terms of current CDM regulations

  • Have experience of planning and delivering housing investment and compliance programmes

  • Have a commercial understanding of value for money drivers in construction and successful implementation

  • Hold a full UK driving licence
