We currently have a rare opportunity for an experienced Project Surveyor to join Gentoo’s Asset Property Investment team. It is a great time to join us as we continue with our ambitious and exciting 5-year investment plan, delivering over £ 200m worth of planned improvements to our customer's homes.

In the role of Project Surveyor, you will be based at our Doxford Park, Sunderland head office. The Contracts Manager and the team lead the Asset Delivery team includes a Senior Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Asset Delivery Co-ordinator, Project Managers, Project Surveyors and Client customer liaison officers. You will report directly to one of our Project Managers, Steve, who has worked for Gentoo for over 20 years and has significant experience in the management and delivery of a large number of schemes across the Gentoo Planned Investment programme. In the role of Project Surveyor, you will play a leading role and be responsible for ensuring the compliance to specification and scope of works is achieved on the schemes which your team have been allocated.

The role will be responsible for the quality management and adherence to the scheme specification, standard of workmanship, materials and products being used.

As a Project Surveyor at Gentoo, you will liaise with a wide range of our teams including Planning and Building Surveying, Customer Voice, Health and Safety, Communications, Procurement, Leasehold, Risk and Insurance and Housing colleagues to assist you in this role. In addition to this, we have appointed the services of external Principal Designers (CDM and BSA), Consultants and Principal Contractors.

The role is subject to a basic DBS paid for by Gentoo.

Ensure accurate record keeping of all associated and relevant documentation concerning the investment schemes that you are responsible for leading, either directly or via your team.

A key part of this role is carrying out inspections whilst work is in progress and also on completion. This is to ensure the specification is being achieved and the quality of work is excellent. In addition to these inspections, you will collate various information which will allow you to produce and formally issue Practical and Sectional Completion certificates.

What we are looking for:

Experience of operating at a similar level/role within a diverse organisation.

A full UK driving licence.

ONC/HNC in construction or equivalent or considerable, relevant, and demonstrable experience

You will have experience in managing your workload, planning quality inspections and coordinating site visits to ensure weekly and monthly targets are achieved.
You will be experienced in working on your initiative to oversee, manage and sign off planned improvement works ensuring compliance to specification, scope and relevant regulations.
Awareness of relevant certification and documentation required to demonstrate compliance with installations.
An excellent communicator and has significant experience in delivering high volume, large scale planned investment contracts with a significant skillset in challenging and directing external partnering contractors.
Organised and structured, ensuring your inspections are suitably detailed, on time and in line with diarised monthly meetings and commercial commitments.

Excellent demonstrable knowledge of building construction, building standards, compliance obligations, planning regulations, regulatory standards and leasehold legislation.

Customer and solution-focused and driven to resolve issues positively.

Full understanding of current CDM regulations and highly desirable that you have a full understanding of BSA regulations.

Passionate about delivering excellent customer service and will always deliver exceptional performance.

You will be able to demonstrate through experience ownership, proactiveness and confidence with direct client relationships as well as with our external Principal Contractors and Consultants.

Competent with all Microsoft Office Packages.
